Researching local issues and legislation
What we do
Groupsource research on anything Left Up To US is considering taking a position or action on and educate the LUTU membership .
- We organized research teams for a handful of issue areas to learn and educate our membership on over 100 bills during the 2017 Texas Legislative Session.
We identified which bills we should support or oppose based on the LUTU platform, identified which bills the legislature was most likely to vote on, and from those identified priority bills.
We then organized LUTU members in public support or opposition to bills with calls to action for each issue area and contact info for the legislators on the relevant committee.

We published summaries of, and our positions on, over 100 bills.
We created calls to action for seven sets of bills with contact info for the legislators on the relevant committee
- Doing the same thing with City Council: organizing research teams parallel to each active committee of the Austin City Council.
Research teams will look into legislation being considered by each committee, as well as policy implementation, and organize efforts to educate LUTU's membership on what is going on at city hall.
We'll determine priority efforts, which we'll support or oppose based on the LUTU platform, and coordinate with the LUTU Lobbying Committee to organize lobbying efforts at city hall and educate members on how to lobby public officials without money.
